But there’s no need to take our word for it. Matamata farmers Simon and Jo-Anne Belton chose Milestone Homes to build a home for their farm manager, which is now just over a year old.
“We were looking for everything we didn’t have when we started out on the farm with young kids,” says Simon.
“It needed to be warm, with on-demand gas hot water, because that’s really important when you’ve got a young family, and preferably with a wet room so there’s no need to tramp muddy boots all through the house.”
They chose a three-bedroom home with a central kitchen and two living rooms to suit modern family life. And though the plan they wanted didn’t have a wet room, we installed a ranch-slider from the garage through to the laundry to provide that necessary space to scrub off.
Extra insulation in the home has been a roaring success – the family living in it last year used no additional heating all winter.
Simon says he and his wife are very happy with their investment, and the farm manager and his family “absolutely loved it. It’s warm, modern and practical – everything you could want.”
