Founded in 2007 by Simon Collett, Milestone Homes Nelson Bays have always held the core values of quality and value for money at the forefront of everything they've done. From humble beginnings working from a shared office space in Richmond they've grown into one of Nelson's preferred builders of new homes consistently building over 20 homes per year.

The team now consists of Adam Hills - who has been with the business since 2007 - as Regional Manager, overseeing the day-to -day running of the business. The sales team consists of Kim Lile, Debra Lithgow and Cherie Baker.  Kim started in 2012 and is also a qualified interior designer & colour consultant, whilst Debra started in 2014 after a number of years within the industry.  Cherie is the newest addition to the team starting in late 2015 coming from a hospitality and real estate background.  The one thing the team has in common is they all share a great passion for new homes and love helping their clients realise their dreams by building a new home to be proud of.

Late 2014 saw Milestone Homes really grow with the addition of Hamish Griffith as our dedicated Construction Manager. Hamish is a former builder and won the coveted Apprentice of the Year award in 2013 before deciding to challenge himself with a much broader role. Hamish is responsible for ensuring all of our homes are built to the standard we expect, within budget and on time.  He is only ever a phone call away for our clients and loves guiding them through the process of building their new home.

Milestone Homes Nelson Bays pride themselves on providing not only a fantastic home but also a fantastic experience to all who choose to build with us. Communication through each stage from planning and pricing through to consent and then construction is of utmost priority to ensure everything runs smoothly.

The franchise has won a number of national awards including ‘Franchisee of the Year’ for 4 out of the last 5 years which is great recognition for the hard work that the team puts into everything that they do.

The team look forward to meeting you either at their office - 8b Champion Road, Richmond - or at the stunning showhome located at 1 Langdale Drive, Richmond.

regional manager

Adam Hills

Having been with Milestone Homes since its inception in Nelson I’m proud to have been a part of our growth to become one of Nelson’s preferred builders. From beginning my career as a New Home Consultant in 2007, my role has changed over the years with my focus switching to supporting our team of consultants and handling the day-to-day running of the business. I have a real passion for not only the building industry but also providing truly smart home options and helping to grow our amazing region. Although we have experienced huge growth we have ensured we stay true to our vision of delivering quality and true value to everyone connected with our business. I’m proud of our reputation for honesty and ensuring our clients are looked after from their first contact to well beyond moving into their new home.

Hamish Griffith

After completing my final college exam in 2009, one week later I found myself working for a respected local builder and my Building Apprenticeship was underway. At this stage I had no idea what I was in for, or what opportunities the building industry had to offer. I quickly developed a passion for what I was doing and was able to see which direction I wanted to head in, that being Project Management. So when an opening arose at Milestone Homes, I was more than excited to be able to bring my skill set to the table, and take on the challenging role as Construction Manager. I bring with me the knowledge of a qualified builder, along with excellent organisational skills the ability to effectively communicate with you, as a client, throughout your build. Once you have dealt with our fantastic sales team, you can rest assured knowing you have a dedicated project manager ensuring a seamless, effective, and quality construction of your smarter new home.

Debra Lithgow

I am excited to be part of the dynamic Milestone Team and to help people realise their dream of building a new home. I come from a retail background and more recently have been a real estate agent for Ray White and a property manager for Xcellence. I feel this valuable experience gives me the skills to help you with the dream of owning a new home and /or investment property. I pride myself on providing a high level of customer service and listening carefully to my clients’ wants and needs. I will present you with a plan to build your ideal home and will go the extra mile by helping you find the perfect section if required. If you are thinking of building a smarter, quality home, give me a call today, you will be one step closer to moving into your new home. I enjoy ‘people and property’ and I look forward to combining them both to help you build a smarter new home.

In my role, I look after the day to day general administration duties of Milestone Homes Nelson Bays. Having grown up in Nelson, I have had the great fortune of watching it grow into the beautiful city that it now is. Since completing my education, I have worked in a variety of administration roles and upon joining Milestone Homes, I have loved the opportunity that it has provided me to give support to my team and our success. I’m excited to be part of this team and being involved in helping you create your dream home.

The new home building industry is exciting and I’m thrilled to be part of it. After a background in secretarial work, I then moved into working at a building compliance company for a couple of years. Before commencing with Milestone Homes, I had previously spent the last 10 years working in the financial services industry. Over time I built up a strong desire to get back into the building industry as it is an area I have always loved, and when an opening at Milestone arose, I was excited to take up the challenge of Client Liaison. As Client Liaison I will be working closely with Hamish, our dedicated Construction Manager, to ensure we keep you fully informed and as up to date as possible on the exciting progress of your build. I look forward to working with you and helping you through the build of your smarter new home.

Nelson Mail 23/03/2015

One man's passion for sports is helping 2000 children in the Nelson region become more confident with physical activity and playing. For the past year, dad Matt Watson has been working to get children in the region comfortable with the basics of physical activity. He started No Child Left Inside in February last year at Richmond School. Since then, the not-for-profit programme has grown, picking up sponsors and other sports enthusiasts to help run the classes. They now visit 13 schools in the region and they are about to start working at Salisbury Girls' School. The programme goes into each school one day a week, for a day. Classes are based around teaching children the fundamentals of co-ordination and physical activity so they can play outdoors with confidence. Watson said the past year had been "incredible" and the programme was working to build ability and confidence in the students. Richmond School had collated data to show the changes before and after Watson ran his programme. "The kids accelerated with their learning capabilities. Kids who had a really low level created an understanding of play and games. Those at a high level increased as well. More kids understand team games and leadership roles inside of games." There were clear changes on a daily basis as well, he said.

"You get the feedback, the acknowledgment from the kids, that they understand when they can thrown and catch, and kick a ball. The joy it brings to kids where that's not natural for them. It's amazing." He wanted the fundamental movement skills to be a part of the pupils' everyday lives. "It's everyday fundamental movement skills, it's most important they are picking up those skills and don't forget it." Watson said they focused on positive reinforcement, giving stickers and water bottles to the children who improved the most. "Not to the kids who are really sporty, to those kids that generally, if they are going outside and taking part in PE, it's a big thing for them. So when they do well, to acknowledge that is pretty cool." Watson is teaming with sponsors to also focus on healthy eating and lifestyles. Energie Fruit had donated 8000 apples to be given out through the year. He is looking at how to incorporate nutrition in the programme and has been asking schools for feedback on this idea. Richmond School teacher Jo Stevens said the programme had helped the children's co-ordination and confidence. "It gives them more enthusiasm to get out there and do things." She said the students looked forward to the weekly classes. Nelson-based adventure racer Nathan Fa'avae is also involved as a director of the programme. "I think it's a fantastic programme getting kids outside promoting health and sport and physical activity. "It is a great thing for the region." No Child Left Inside is at Mapua, Upper Moutere, Tasman, Mahana, Appleby, Ranzau, Hope, Richmond, Henley, Stoke, Nayland, Enner Glynn and Nelson Central primary schools.
